Monday 19th January - walk ***** – Martlesham Church to Kyson Point – sunny periods with light winds.

The day started cloudy with light winds so after doing my exercises I packed a picnic leaving Felixstowe at 11.15 taking the main roads over to Martlesham Church spotting a peacock when we were nearly there! After putting our wellies on we walked to the church first to see the lovely snowdrops of which there were loads! Then along the nice country lane turning right down to Martlesham Creek, through the small boat yard, round the bottom of the Creek spotting some Little Grebes and loads of Teal as we took the quiet path to Kyson Point where the creek meets the River Deben. The tide was approaching high so we hoped to could get through, we found enough room to sit in front of the small wooden boatshed for our picnic, in fact the tide started to drop while we were there! The tide movement really set the waders off and there were hundreds up in the air, just lovely to watch! The sun even made anappearance with some top clouds, just lovely! We them set off for the van before taking the scenic route back for a welcome cuppa, there are a few days of breeze coming so I might even get out on the water tomorrow as its been over a month now!

PS – we got an Aurora alert around 7.30 so I drove down to Felixstowe Ferry but there was nothing, then a mega red alert came through so we looked out of our back bedroom window at 9.20 and you could see green with the naked eye! I got a few nice pics as did Mag along with most of Suffolk, it was an amazing display!!!!
